Solagenica is committed to fully engaging with all Indigenous nations, groups and communities in proximity to any of Solagenica’s planned or existing projects.

We recognize the importance of inclusion of Indigenous peoples in our business. We consider and engage with the Indigenous community when considering business operations, and are guided by Indigenous advisors who have helped us develop our focus areas:

Indigenous Peoples Engagement and Collaboration Policy

Solagenica is committed to conducting our renewable energy operations in a socially responsible and sustainable manner that respects the rights, cultures, and interests of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. We acknowledge and recognize the historical and ongoing contributions of Indigenous Peoples to our nation and the importance of fostering strong and respectful relationships. This policy outlines our commitment to engage, collaborate, and uphold the rights of Indigenous Peoples in all aspects of our operations.

Indigenous Awareness and Training

To ensure we are taking steps towards reconciliation with the Indigenous communities in which we operate, we require all of our employees to complete the University of Alberta’s Indigenous Canada Open Online Course.

In addition, all of our Canadian partners and suppliers are required to review and follow our Indigenous Peoples Engagement and Collaboration policy.

Economic Considerations

We acknowledge the systemic socio-economic obstacles that have been historically placed against Canada’s Indigenous communities. As a company, we are committed to assessing and prioritizing equity opportunities with Indigenous peoples .

Alignment to UN's Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 interconnected global objectives designed to address the world’s most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges by 2030. These goals provide a comprehensive framework to guide governments, businesses, civil society, and individuals in their efforts to create a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.

SDG 7 aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. Our core mission aligns with this goal by providing clean energy solutions that contribute to reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing environmental impact.

By providing access to clean and affordable energy, we contribute to reducing inequalities by ensuring that underserved communities have access to essential resources for development.

SDG 13 focuses on urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. We play a pivotal role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by providing alternatives to fossil fuel-based energy sources, thereby aiding in the global efforts to mitigate climate change.
