Plug In Solar is designed to be a "Do It Yourself" — but it is electrical equipment so consult professionals if required. To keep your set-up safe; the manual that ships with your kit and your local electrical codes should always be the final approval.

READ THE MANUAL FIRST

This guide is a summary. Follow the installation manual included with your kit and all applicable local electrical codes. When the two differ, the manual and codes are advised to be a safe installation.

INSPECT BEFORE YOU INSTALL

Do not install damaged panels, cables, or connectors. Ensure the substrate the panel is being affixed to is secure and to building code.

KEEP CONNECTIONS DRY

Install on a dry day and keep every connection face clean and dry. Mount the microinverter where water can drain away rather than pool on or around it.

PANELS GENERATE POWER IN SUNLIGHT

Make your DC connections before exposing the panels to full sun, or cover the panel faces while wiring. Never touch connectors or cable ends while the kit is plugged in and producing.

USE THE RIGHT OUTLET

Plug into a standard, grounded 120V household outlet in good working condition. Never force a plug, modify cords, or plug the solar / inverter kit in while wet.

STOP IF ANYTHING FEELS WRONG

If a component shows no sign of life or something doesn’t feel right, unplug the AC cable, cover the panels, and contact Solagenica for possible support and troubleshooting.

Installation Guide

Solagenica solar kits deliver everyday renewable energy through a standard household AC receptacle — designed for balconies, fences, RV's and other applications. This guide walks you through the steps to install your solar kit.

IDENTIFY AND ASSESS YOUR SOLAR APPLICATION

Choose where the panels will be best installed and confirm there is an AC outlet nearby. Positioning the solar towards where you have the best solar irradiance with as little shade as possible will provide the best solar output.
  • Confirm the outlet is a standard, grounded 120V AC outlet in good working condition.
  • Check the distance from panels to outlet and keep the AC cable run as short as possible.

UNBOX & INSPECT THE KIT

Lay out every component on a clean, dry surface and check it against the kit checklist. Look for visible damage to the panel(s), the microinverter, cables, and connectors.
  • Confirm you have the right mounting hardware for your surfaces — rail, fence, wall, or other application to ensure the panel is secure.
  • Keep the DC connector faces clean and covered until you’re ready to mate them.

MOUNTING OF THE SOLAR PANELS

Source and attach the appropriate mounting hardware with the grommets provided on each panel in to ensure a secure attachment.
  • Balcony rail — Wire / Zip tie the panel(s) to the railing. You can also use a variety of other metal and/or plastic fastners depending on your installation substrate.
  • Fence — use the appropriate fastener based on the type of fence the panel will be affixed to.

CONNECT THE PANELS TO THE MICROINVERTER

Mate each panel’s DC connector to a microinverter input until it clicks and locks. On the two-panel 316W and above kits, connect two panels per one AP Inverter. Keep connector faces dry and clean.
  • Push firmly and listen for the click — a loose connector is the most common cause of no output.
  • Leave the microinverter where water can drain away rather than pool on or around it.

RUN THE CABLE & PLUG IN

Route the AC cable from the microinverter to your AC receptacle, keeping it away from walkways and standing water, and secure it with the appropriate fastners. Then plug into the standard 120V receptacle — the kit starts producing as soon as the inverter and solar recognizes the required solar irradiance.
  • Do the plug-in step in daylight so you can confirm production right away.
  • Never route the cable through doors or windows that close on the wires.

CONFIRM IT’S PRODUCING

Check the microinverter status light — it turns on when the kit is generating. Open the monitoring app and confirm live output on screen.
  • No light? Check the outlet and reseat the panel connectors — see Care & Troubleshooting.
  • Allow a few minutes on first plug-in while the inverter boots and syncs with the electrcial grid.

Set a goal in the monitoring app and check daily production and offset. Every kilowatt-hour you generate is one less you buy from the utility grid.
  • Savings begin from day one — production starts the moment you’re plugged in.
  • Start with a 316kW Kit and scale up to 1264W. Panels and inverters can be easily relocated if required.

Care & Troubleshooting

Symptom Likely cause What to do
No status light on the microinverter Outlet off or panel connector not fully seated Check the plug and the outlet, reseat both DC connectors until they click, then retry.
Low output on a cloudy day Normal — panels produce less without full sun Compare against the monitoring app over a full sunny day before worrying.
Output flat on a sunny day  Shade on one panel, or a loose connector Check for new shade, then reseat connectors and confirm each panel appears in the app.
Panels look dirty and output is down Dust, pollen, or bird droppings on the the panel could inhibit the solar panel power production. Unplug the AC cable first, then rinse the panels with water and let them dry in the sun.
